In contrast to existing solutions for virtual collaboration, which are mostly specialized in planned meetings and just allow punctual communication, "teamfunk" provides a permanent audio/video connection to the team. In this way "teamfunk" significantly lowers the barrier to start a conversation and to exchange thoughts.

"teamfunk" allows very spontaneous and informal communication, which helps to prevent misunderstandings, to solve problems efficiently and is crucial for successful teamwork.

"teamfunk" makes you aware of what happens in your team. What are your colleagues working on? Are they available for exchanging thoughts? What is their opinion? What is the status of the project?

The design of "teamfunk", which resembles a tin-can-phone, encourages to communicate. "teamfunk" can be controlled simply via...
...the control ring, which allows to switch between colleagues by turning.
...voice control, which allows to talk to a colleague just by saying his or her name.
...physical interaction, which allows to shut down "teamfunk" by turning it upside down.

"teamfunk" works completely independent of your computer and includes all necessary components for virtual communication like camera, microphone, speakers and a display for video transmission. The connection between the devices is established via internet.

"teamfunk" was developed at the Faculty of Media of Hochschule Darmstadt by Christoph Aumann, Jan-André Huber, Lukas Geißler, Philipp Pra, Christian Tamanini, Christoph Wannemacher and Stefan Zoll.
